TALLADEGA, Alabama — The water pressure is continuing to improve in Talladega where Water and Sewer Department wokers have tried for days to stop a massive leak.
Late Wednesday, the Talladega Water and Sewer Department was successful in raising the water pressure within the system, according to a statement from Talladega County Emergency Management Agency.
“As a result of the focused effort near the Bemiston community two valves were installed, allowing a section of line to be isolated. This isolation had a nearly immediate effect, raising the water pressure in the measured areas from under 20 psi to over 70 psi,” the statement said.
Talladega residents should continue to boil water and conserve water, officials said.
“Residents who have complete water outage are encouraged to use the emergency water distribution site at the old Wehadkee Yarn Mill, 400 West Battle St.
Distribution times are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. until further notice,” the statement said. Identification such as a driver’s license or recent Talladega water bill are required to obtain water from the emergency distribution site.
