Three people were recently arrested on prostitution-related charges in Shelby County. ¶
One of the three, Petronilo Mendoza-Alvarado, is also facing a charge of human trafficking that accuses him of benefiting from an activity with ties to sex or servitude, court records show. ¶
Mendoza-Alvardo, 23, who has a Pelham address according to court records, is also charged with promoting prostitution and two counts of obstructing justice. He is being held in the Shelby County Jail on bonds totaling $75,000. ¶
Luz Del Alba De La Cruz-Lopez, 20, of Atlanta, is also charged with promoting prostitution. She is being held on a $15,000 bond. ¶
Lucia Hernandez-Gonzales, whose age and address were unavailable, is charged with one count of prostitution and is being held on a $1,000 bond in jail, where she has been since May 27. ¶
Mendoza-Alvardo and De La Cruz-Lopez were arrested on promoting prostitution charges on separate warrants in connection with alleged offenses that happened May 24, according to warrants sought by the same Pelham police officer. ¶
A Pelham Police Department incident report shows that human trafficking and promoting prostitution was alleged to have been taking place at a mobile home park from April 8 through May 24 in the 10000 block of Shelby County 22<cm+bd>.<cm-bd> ¶
Mendoza-Alvardo is accused of using a fake identification on April 8 to obstruct justice. ¶
A spokeswoman for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said Thursday night details will be provided about their involvement in the investigation
