TUSCALOOSA, Alabama — Tuscaloosa residents who hear weather sirens on Wednesday when there is no inclement weather should remain calm and heed the warning anyway.

The Tuscaloosa County Emergency Management Agency announced it will conduct the monthly test of its Countywide Outdoor Warning Siren System at noon on Wednesday.

The EMA says if conditions prohibit the test, it will then be later scheduled for the next acceptable Wednesday.

The test is conducted on the first Wednesday of each month at noon. The sirens will be sounded for approximately 30 seconds. The EMA suggests that residents who hear the siren should practice the safety precautions they normally would if the sirens for were for an actual event.

The EMA noted that citizens should remember that Outdoor Warning Sirens are intended to alert persons who are involved with outdoor activities and that there is no guarantee they will hear a siren when it is activated. Those who are inside should not depend on the siren as their primary way of being warned.

Tomorrow’s forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with scattered showers and thunderstorms possible after 1 p.m.
