KNOXVILLE, Tennessee — The Tennessee Valley Authority says about 152,000 homes and businesses, mostly in Alabama, remain without power as a result of last week’s severe weather in the South.
Barbara Martocci, a spokeswoman for the federal utility, said Monday afternoon that it anticipates restoring power to most of its customers this week and as early as later Monday or Tuesday.
Meanwhile, TVA’s Browns Ferry nuclear power plant in north Alabama remains in “safe shutdown” while repairs are made to transmission lines in its area. Martocci said there is no estimate on a restart date.
