MOULTON – Two people died Saturday four miles east of Moulton when their vehicle collided with a North Courtland police car, state troopers said.

At about 10:45 a.m., Gary Wayne Cox, 62, of Town Creek and his wife, Sandra Standridge Cox, 53, were traveling north on Lawrence County Road 217 in a 1994 GMC Sonoma when their vehicle was hit on the driver’s side, troopers said. The crash killed both of them, troopers said.

North Courtland Police Officer Brandon Shane Mundy, 29, of Courtland was driving the second vehicle, one of the police department’s fully marked units, a 2006 Ford Crown Victoria, and he was injured.  All occupants of the vehicles were wearing their seat belts. 

State troopers are investigating the crash.
