SHELBY COUNTY, Alabama — Two people were shot and killed at a home in the Vandiver community of Shelby County tonight, authorities said.

“Right now we don’t believe we have anybody involved in this who is at large,” said Sheriff’s Department spokesman Capt. Ken Burchfield. “No one believes that the public is in danger with anybody at large.”

The shootings occurred in the 100 block of Cripple Creek Lane and the department was withholding the names pending notification of relatives, Burchfield said.

Authorities responded about 6 p.m. to a call that one person had been shot but arrived to find two people dead.

Investigators will work through the night and release more information in the morning, Burchfield said.
