Two adults and two children were killed this afternoon when the vehicle they were traveling in was involved in a crash with an 18-wheeler and another car, according to Alabama State Troopers.
Cpl. Steve Smith said a total of four people from the other two vehicles were injured and were sent to four hospitals — UAB, Children’s, Brookwood, and St. Vincent’s East.
Information about the extent of their injuries was not known tonight.
The crash happened about 4:48 p.m. on Interstate 59 North at mile marker 145 near Argo.
All northbound lanes are shut down as of shortly before 10 p.m. Drivers are asked to exit at the 143 exit, if not sooner, Smith said.
Smith said troopers expect to release more information Thursday.
