ORANGE BEACH, Alabama — An 18-month-old boy drowned today in Cotton Bayou, Orange Beach authorities said.
The child’s body was found floating near a seawall in a residential neighborhood, said Orange Beach Fire Chief Forney Howard.
Howard said that a neighbor or relative who was a physician was performing CPR on the child when rescue crews arrived on the scene.
The child was flown by helicopter to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, he said. He said he believes the child’s family is from out of town.
Assistant Police Chief Greg Duck said that authorities responded to the call about 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
Police did not release the child’s name.
