Author: HOMEWOOD, Alabama — A woman was shot tonight in the parking lot of the McDonald’s restaurant at 818 Green Springs Highway shortly after 6 p.m., according to Homewood police.
The woman was taken to UAB Hospital and is in stable condition.
Homewood police Sgt. Andrew Didcoct said one suspect fled on foot and another in a car. Police later located the car and took one person into custody for questioning, Didcoct said.
Two women waiting in the parking lot to be interviewed by police said they heard a single gunshot, saw a man running from the car and saw the injured woman talking on her cell phone.
Birmingham Police and Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies are also on the scene.
Updated at 8:13 p.m. to correct the name of the hospital.
