MOBILE, Alabama — Two west Mobile girls testified in federal court this morning that child pornography defendant Nathan Allen Railey touched them sexually multiple times over the several months that they knew him.

The girls were the last two witnesses for the prosecution, which contends that Railey tried to make secret recordings of the girls in their bathroom and also had hundreds of other images of child pornography on his laptop computer.

Mobile County prosecutors last year backed off sexual abuse and sodomy charges against Railey after a preliminary hearing. But U.S. District Judge Ginny Granade allowed evidence of the alleged abuse because those allegations are intertwined with accusations that Railey tried to record the girls with a pen camera.

The older girl, who is now 14, testified that Railey on numerous occasions touched or rubbed against her breasts and private area.

“It was pretty much every day. .¤.¤. He would laugh, like it was OK for him to be doing that,” she said.

The girl told jurors that Railey’s behavior became more aggressive. She testified that he performed oral sex on her, gave her alcohol and tried to persuade her to have intercourse with him.

“He wanted to, but I kept pushing him off that I was not ready,” she said.

The girl testified that she thought Railey’s actions were OK at the time but that they made her feel awkward.

During cross-examination — which was interrupted at one point to allow the girl to regain her composure — defense attorney Chase Dearman tried to confront her with previous statements she made that minimized Railey’s conduct. In the first account the girl gave to police, Dearman said, she said Railey only touched her about a half-dozen times and that he never took her clothes off.

After that meeting, Dearman said, the girl provided anther account in which she said he touched her 20 to 30 times

The girl’s younger sister, who is now 10, testified that Railey first touched her in her private area while she was watching TV in her home.

“I ran away and I went to my room,” she said.

She said Railey touched her 10 times or more.

During cross-examination, Dearman asked the girl if Railey had ever photographed her.

“Not that I’m aware of,” she said.
