MENTONE, Alabama — Authorities say a 65-year-old Florida woman has died after being thrown from a horse in the northeast Alabama community of Mentone.
The Chattanooga Times-Free Press reports that Kristine Burley Jones, of Plantation, Fla., died Saturday.
DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris said she was riding with her family at a ranch when the horse jumped after apparently cutting its rear leg on a limb.
He said Jones fell and struck her head on a tree.
